Review of the Citizen AT9016-56H World Time Watch

There are many styles of Citizen watches out there; some I like, some I like a bit less; but all I believe offer me the versatility, accuracy, and functionality I want in a timepiece. The Citizen AT9016-56H in my opinion is quite attractive, with its bimetal aesthetic, highlighted by its brushed stainless steel finish and polished rose gold ion plated accents.

What is peculiar to this watch is the protruding ridge on the case middle that house the T-shaped function pushers, and the textured main crown. I do think that this is useful as it allows for easy access to the main crown and pushers. I can't say I've encountered this 'feature' in many watches, but I like it on this Citizen watch.
The stationary bezel is featured in rose gold as well, but it is thin and not ostentatious. The 5-piece bracelet carries a ratio of 3:2 brushed stainless to polished rose gold. All in all, I think the contrast between the metal types serves this watch very well. Securing the bracelet is a single folding clasp with a single release push button system.

The anthracite toned dial has applied rose gold toned indexes, and printed Arabic numeral for the hour markers alternating each other. The hour and minutes hands are also rose gold toned, which contrast nicely with the grey dial, and they also feature thin strips of lume for legibility of the time at night. The central seconds hand is hued orange, which offers a slight sporty aesthetic to this gent's Citizen timepiece.
At the 3 position is an aperture displaying the date, while at the 12 position is a retrograde styled counter revealing the day of the week, and a power reserve scale. The register at 9 displays the current time in 24 hour format. At 6 o'clock is a prominent subdial, evincing a second time zone or commonly called a GMT complication , with the hour hand in orange, and the minute hand in white. Along the flange are 24 major cities across the world – each representing a different time zone. Protecting the dial is a hardened, scratch resistant mineral crystal.

Governing this watch is a Japanese made quartz mechanism caliber H820. Keeping this watch accurate are radio signals that can be received in Japan, China, Germany, UK, USA, and Canada. The Citizen AT9016-56H uses the Eco-Drive technology , which powers the watch using light – either natural or artificial. Once fully charged this watch can continue ticking without further exposure to light for 6 months.
